Gulmarg as the word suggests literally means “the meadow of flowers” as was penned by the famous emperor of Kashmir Sultan Yousuf Shah of Chak dynasty. Set in a cup-shaped valley at a height of 8600 feet above sea level in the range of Pir Panchal, Gulmarg is at a distance of 57 km from the Srinagar city which can be covered in an hours’ time. Demographically located at a high altitude the climate of Gulmarg is relatively cold in comparison to the other locations in Kashmir division. The highest temperature ranges up to 20 degree Celsius in the month of July and lowest goes to minus 8 degree Celsius in the month of January. Gulmarg is popularly known as the skiing capital of India, with its vast snow-covered slopes offering a perfect destination for winter sports enthusiasts. The ski resort here is one of the best in Asia and attracts visitors from all over the world. Apart from skiing, Gulmarg also offers a variety of adventure activities such as snowboarding, sledging, and ice skating, making it an ideal destination for adventure seekers. The Gulmarg Gondola, one of the highest cable cars in the world, offers breathtaking views of the valley and the surrounding snow-capped mountains.

A city of Bollywood and valleys, Pahalgam is the most vibrant hill station in the Kashmir valley. It is about 98 Km from Srinagar city which can be covered in 2 hours. It is 2300m above sea level and has the adventage of Lidder river flowing through the town which amplifies its beauty and gives serenity to the mind. Once a humble shepherd’s village with breathtaking views, it is situated at the junction of Aru and Sheshnag river. The famous Amarnath yatra starts from the Pahalgam and every year in the month of July/August Hundred thousand pilgrims start their journey for the holy shrine said to be abode of Lord Shiva. Pahalgam is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike. The town offers several trekking and hiking trails, including the popular trek to Kolahoi Glacier and the pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Amarnath. The Lidder river flowing through the town offers opportunities for white water rafting and fishing, adding to the thrill of adventure.

The word Sonmarg is a derived from “Sona” meaning “Gold” and “Marg” meaning “Meadow” bestowing it with a literal meaning of “Meadow of Gold”. Sonmarg is an ideal destination for those who have a nick for camping and trekking as it is bestowed with enchanting lush green beauty and snow clad mountains. If the green mountainous beauty doesn’t enthral you, the gushing water of melodious river Sindh will definitely lift your soul. The flora of Sonmarg comprises of Sycamore and alpine flowers, silver birch, fir and pine trees. Those in search of tranquillity and peace need to listen to the murmur of chirping birds and flow of river Sindh at night. Sonmarg is at a distance of 110 Kms from the Srinagar city. The Sonmarg is an intermediate connection between Kashmir and Leh – Ladakh on NH1A and has few breathtaking locations to visit which include Nichnai Pass, Zoji La, Thajwas Glacier, Kolohai Glacier, Mochai Glacier Amarnath Peak and River Sindh. A lot of recreational activities are being offered in Sonmarg. Trekkers find it heaven in terms of slopes and treks. Be it 3-day trekking to Kolohai glacier or a famous trek from Sonmarg to Pahalgam.
